The festive season at WHSB is now well underway!
The festive season at WHSB is now well underway! On Friday 1 December, we welcomed Mr Terry Birdseye, President of the Old Westcliffian Association, back to the School for the formal presentation of the School’s Norwegian fir Christmas tree. The donation of a tree by members of the School’s alumni community first took place during the Pandemic and is now a well-established tradition that marks the beginning of seasonal festivities within School.
Later in the evening, and against the backdrop of the magnificent Christmas tree, the School’s Big Band, Jazz Band and Saxophone Quartet (plus singers) took to the stage for our annual Christmas concert. Pupils, parents, staff, Old Westcliffians and friends of the School were entertained by pupils from across the Year groups who treated the audience to an array of hits covering a variety of styles from Herbie Hancock to Dizzy Gillespie and Frank Sinatra to Toto, in addition to well-known Christmas music.
Well done to our talented musicians and thank you to Mr Derrick, the School’s Director of Music, for arranging this seasonal spectacular. We are also grateful to our Parents’ Association for supporting the event with their pop-up bar, serving mulled wine and refreshments throughout the evening.
