WHSB CAREERS IN STEM event
We look forward to welcoming our three special guests for this evening’s CAREERS IN STEM event. Our guests include Martin Edwards and Neeta Darragh, two highly experienced professionals in related industries. They will be sharing details of their own pathways into their careers, their many experiences and exciting projects along the way. We are also delighted to be joined by Kayleigh Murphy, a Degree Apprentice Civil Engineer, who will share information on her route into the industry and offer advice on applying to become a degree apprentice. We are pleased to share some further details of our guests below.

Martin Edwards
Resources Operations System & Strategy Lead, QinetiQ:
Martin, a former WHSB pupil, has worked for QinetiQ for 14 years. After a Heavy Vehicle Maintenance apprenticeship in Tank Workshops, he has spent most of his career in test and evaluation, working on sites throughout the UK. Martin has spent the last 5 years in workforce & facility planning, responsible for 1,000 engineers delivering projects in the Land Domain and preparing for the future of the Defence Industry. Recently he started a new role as the Resource Operations lead in the group’s Digital Transformation Programme.
Neeta Darragh
Enablement Director, VMware:
Neeta is an Enablement Director at VMware, a global virtualisation and cloud computing software provider, where she is responsible for ensuring that the go-to-market team are equipped to sell VMware’s cybersecurity solutions. Neeta has a long history in the IT industry, with roles varying from development, database administration, through to operations management and enablement. Neeta is passionate about encouraging the younger generation to consider roles in STEM and spends a lot of time attending local schools’ career events to inspire and encourage children about roles in the IT industry. Neeta and her husband both attended the Westcliff High Schools and are proud to see their sons following in their footsteps.
Kayleigh Murphy
Degree Apprentice Civil Engineering, AtkinsRéalis:
Kayleigh is currently studying for her BEng in Civil Engineering as a part of her role as a Degree Apprentice. She joined AtkinsRéalis, a leading global design and engineering consultancy, in September 2022, where she is supported in studying alongside her day-to-day work to become an Incorporated Engineer.
