Junior Mathematical Challenge
Following WHSB’s success in last term’s 2024 Intermediate Mathematical Challenge (for pupils in Years 9, 10 and 11), this April our entire Year 8, and selected Year 7 pupils, took part in the Junior Mathematical Challenge, run by the UK Maths Trust. The Challenge encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency. WHSB pupils delighted us with their success, with over a quarter being awarded Gold Certificates (55 in total), equivalent to the top 8% of all entrants. In addition, 35 of our students have made it through to the next round, the Junior Kangaroo.
Congratulations to all those who took part, including those who were awarded certificates, and our Kangaroo entrants; this is a fantastic achievement on a national level. We are grateful to Miss James for her work in preparing the pupils for the competition and for organising their participation.
